West Cambridge, also known as Neighborhood Ten, is a small residential neighborhood with many historic homes lining the streets. Adjacent to Harvard Yard, Harvard Square provides a commercial center for students and residents of western Cambridge and the surrounding suburbs.
Many residents use the Harvard Square station, a Red Line stop and major MBTA bus hub. The Charles River and a path along it border one side of the neighborhood, perfect for post-work strolls or morning runs. The area includes many historic homes including Longfellow House - home to poet Henry W. Longfellow in the 19th century and headquarters for George Washington during the Siege of Boston. You can also visit historic Mount Auburn Cemetery in the southwestern part of the neighborhood.
